Youth Action Program Proposal

The Youth Action Program proposal is the background information to how the program works, and how a school or group becomes involved with JWOC. When a school is interested in participating in the program, they decide on a specific amount that they plan to fundraise and pledge to fundraise over the upcoming school year or other period of time. The amount is determined by the students in conjunction with school administrators and can be designated to one of JWOC’s projects or to the organization’s general fund. The students then brainstorm different ideas for fundraising events and plan ideas on how they want to raise the money. JWOC will also help provide some ideas and fundraising tools! For instance, the first thing we are offering is re-usable water bottles that feature the JWOC logo and a message about the importance of clean water. The message is: “The average American family spends over $1000 every year on bottled water – this would provide clean water to over 100 people in Cambodia.” Your school can order as many of these bottles from us as you think your group will sell, and then sell them for a fundraising event, donating the profits back to our organization. This is not a required idea, but just something to help get you guys thinking! If you would like to use the water bottles as a starter, that is great too! Hopefully that will spark your own thinking – we welcome the creativity! JWOC will supply the students with informational brochures, DVDs, and other various distributing tools to help them raise awareness of our organization and its cause, as well as help fundraise. Once the program is underway, JWOC will begin pen-pal relationships between the school and Cambodian students. If desired, we can link different schools that are participating in our program together so you all can share fundraising ideas and successes. If you go back to the main Youth Action Program page, you will see your school’s name on our page as soon as you have filled out the short application and sent it back to us. If you click your school’s name, you will be connected to a webpage that introduces your school and your individual program, showcasing fundraising goals and highlighting achievements. At the end of the year, a JWOC representative will try to visit your school to explain to the students what they have made possible with their fundraising and donations, showing pictures and introducing them in detail to the projects they have helped support. This proposal is just a basic backbone to our program, and we are quite flexible in tailoring to your school’s needs and schedule. We sincerely hope this is of interest to you! A program application is available to download on the program’s main page, or you can click here to download one now. You can also go back to the program's main page to read about past or current participating schools and the fundraising events they held.
