Individual Volunteers
Stephanie – Microfinance Project
Stephanie spent six weeks at JWOC working in the office, helping to organize the Microfinance project. She came at a time of transition at JWOC and so provided crucial support for the Managing Directors in organizing and researching changes to the JWOC’s MF Programme as well as investigating a potential new branch of the project. Stephanie was working in accounts management and brought her organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail to JWOC while she was here.
Steve – Clean Water and Free Classes Projects
Steve stayed with JWOC for just over two months mainly helping our Clean Water Project manager and intern to successfully plan and implement JWOC’s Clean-Water partnership with Branet Village. With a background in logistics from the US Army, Steve had a lasting impact on the project through his meticulous planning of each trip to the village in collaboration with JWOC’s local staff. He helped our staff to manage their time more effectively and introduced them to some of the fundamental concepts of leadership and coordination both through his work in the field and in a series of leadership workshops. Willing to help wherever he was needed, Steve also covered a few English classes when teachers were unable to come.
Noel – Free Classes Project
Noel is a repeat volunteer staying with JWOC for two weeks at a time and working with our teachers to help them with the individual problems they were facing. Noel came to JWOC with more than twenty years experience in education and was able to observe and then meet with a number of teachers to give them advice. Noel helped our teachers with issues of classroom management, creating more interactive classes and using a variety of teaching techniques to improve the learning experience for JWOC students.
