Computer Classes

JWOC Computer classes are a part of the Free Classes Project that provides opportunities to underprivileged students who do not have access to private school or education. The aim of the computer course is to give students an opportunity to learn skills that they can use to help them with their studies and work opportunities, Computer classes are run by our Lab Supervisor, Man, who is supported by scholarship students studying Information Technology degrees at university.
Our computer course includes English and Khmer Unicode typing, Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Internet and E-mail. The course is divided into two parts; part one: typing and Word and part two: Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and E-mail. Our course lasts eight months in total enabling students to learn and gain confidence in a range of new skills. Students attend classes for 4 hours per week.

In addition to regular computer classes, there are open computer sessions. These are times during the day when computer students can practice their new skills. Scholarship students can also use the computer room to work on documents to support their studies. It is hoped that in the long term, computers will be used regularly in our English classes to allow children to complete fun activities and games relating to their syllabus.
