Hygiene Seminars

Giving people access to education about basic hygiene and preventable diseases is a key ingredient in promoting sustainable change in the communities we work with. JWOC Well Project Scholarship students are trained to give engaging and informative seminars to the families in the villages where we work. Seminars focus on basic hygiene practices such as hand-washing and teeth cleaning. We also aim to raise awareness about the dangers of using contaminated water as a cause of illness and disease and how people can change their everyday routine to prevent getting sick.
In order to give the most effective seminars possible, JWOC aims to partner with individuals, organizations and companies around the world to use engaging and relevant training materials and provisions. This makes our seminars interactive, memorable and practical for the participants in the hope that they will continue what they have learnt at home making changes for the better in their everyday lives. A small hygiene pack containing a toothbrush, toothpaste and soap is provided to each and every person attending a JWOC hygiene seminar.

Those who have helped with our seminars
June 2009 - Karin Leinwand: A special thanks for Karin and her team for putting together hygiene kits that were distributed at the West Point seminars.
May 2009 - West Point Cadets: A group of cadets travelled to Cambodia in May, 2009 to work on the JWOC Hygiene Program. They spent time observing every day life in villages before holding basic hygiene seminars for adults and children. They then stayed in those villages to see the positive effects these seminars had. Most importantly, the cadets spent time passing the training over to JWOC clean-water project students who will continue and expand the seminars, reaching many more Cambodian communities in the future.
