Dollars for Scholars University Students

SoktheaSeang Sotheary is 23 years old and a first year student at Build Bright University. In her free time, she enjoys reading magazines and staying busy at her work as an accountant. Born and raised in Odar Meanchey Province, her father left the family for war when she was ten and her mother raised the family as a single parent. Sotheary has five other siblings, two sisters and three brothers. During her childhood, she moved to Siem Reap and worked extremely hard in the rice fields. So far, she has been the only one of her siblings to continue her education at the university level.

Sotheary is one of the newer members of the Journey Within Our Communty’s family. That said, she has yet to find a project to contribute towards, though we look forward to the future contributions she has to offer. Concerning Siem Reap, Sotheary enjoys the good videos, places to go, mountains and scenic countryside. Within Cambodia, she would like to see progress towards fighting poverty and improving the education system by saying, “if we build schools, we can help all those people learn and study so that they may eventually find a good job.”

Sotheary has been a scholarship student for eight months. A first year student and Build Bright University and accounting major, Sotheary wanted to learn a skill in order to gain experience and find a well paying job. She joined the JWOC team to help teach English and learn the experience necessary to be successful later in life.

In the future, Sotheary wants to become a manager of a company, live in the United States, have a family, and help her mother.

“ I love the JWOC organization and would like to support the students that are poor. I didn’t have enough money to support my studies and I want to get experience from JWOC. With their help, now I am a student in the Build Bright University because JWOC supports me. I am very happy and want to say thank you so much for your helping and wish the organization and all the staff to have success in everything.”
