Dollars For Scholars Scholarship Fund Our scholarship program for universitry students is the secret behind JWOC's success. Through the support of donors, JWOC sponsors scholarships which cover the cost of tuition and textbooks for select students. In return for their scholarship, each student volunteers in the community 5 - 10 hours per week with a JWOC project of their choice. JWOC currently sponsors 30 students to attend university in Cambodia. These students are highly motivated and are currently seeking four year degrees in Management, Accounting, English, Literature, Hospitality and Tourism. One of the innovative approaches of the program is to match sponsors with university students so both can learn more about their respective cultures. By sponsoring a university student, sponsors not only pave the way for the future of Cambodia, but also help in the overall development of JWOC projects. Many of these students will become future local and national leaders for Cambodia. By instilling the ethic of giving back to your community, we hope that one day each of them will play a part in building a better Cambodia. Meet the Scholars Giving Back to their Community
The Program Many students who finish high school in Cambodia would love the opportunity to go to university, but they simply cannot afford the tuition. In Cambodia, there are a number of universities with extremely reasonable tuition costs. The average university tuition cost in Cambodia is approximately $400 per year. JWOC matches individual donors (or a small group of donors) with an individual student. JWOC asks the donors to give a pledge commitment for the duration of the student’s attendance in university. By matching the donor with the student, JWOC hopes to encourage a lasting relationship between the two. To learn more about how to sponsor a university student please contact the Director.
All candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
To ensure academic success, the scholarship is based on the success of each student. Therefore, if a student falls out of good academic standing, JWOC will place the student on scholarship probation for one semester. If the student fails to raise their grades within the probation period, he or she will lose their scholarship. |
