Journeys Within Our Community (JWOC) is a non-profit organization incorporated in California, United States and operates as a public charity in Southeast Asia. JWOC supports and manages a variety of projects promoting improved living conditions for people in Cambodia and Vietnam. We work to promote economic and educational opportunities as well as improve health conditions.

The idea behind JWOC began when Brandon and Andrea Ross, owners of Journeys Within Tour Company and B&B, came to Cambodia and wanted to give back to the community in which they lived and worked. By receiving donations and support from their guests they were able to start the initial projects which quickly broadend and Journeys Within Our Community was born.

When Brandon and Andrea first arrived, they witnessed families and children in rural villages drinking standing water from pits in the ground and decided to help. They organized and funded local construction workers to install water wells for the villagers. With these new water wells, people now had a clean water source which they use not only for drinking but also cooking, cleaning, bathing and watering crops.

Around the same time, Donna McAleer came to Cambodia and was inspired by children's eagerness to learn at a local orphanage in Siem Reap. She began sending supplies to the school, and shortly thereafter began corresponding with Brandon and Andrea about the school, its teachers and status. Together they organized an effort in Park City, Utah to directly support this school and its children. That effort eventually led to the support of a language school where children could receive second language training free of charge. Now JWOC runs two language schools which operate seven days a week and students can choose to learn English, Japanese, Khmer reading and writing, computers, traditional Khmer dance, and photography. With knowledge of a second language or vocational skill, students have a better opportunity for employment in the growing hospitality and tourism industries.

With generous aid from the Founder's Society and the momentum of these efforts led to the incorporation of Journeys Within Our Community and on March 6, 2006, JWOC was officially recognized as a tax exempt oganization under 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Service Tax Code.
